What is HTO?

A high tibial osteotomy is a surgical procedure that realigns the knee joint. In some patients with knee arthritis their leg is not straight. Leg is bowed near knee jointbecause of which their weight gets transmitted through inside of the knee joint. As a result inner part of your knee gets more and more arthritis.

Why you may need HTO?

To prevent this we correct the alignment of your bent knee to a straight knee.

There are two main goals for a HTO
• To reduce knee pain by transferring weight-bearing loads to the relatively unaffected lateral part of your knees; second,
• To delay the need for a knee replacement by stopping the destruction of the medial joint.
